I would like to say after reading some interesting facts about the 2002 duramax, I’m not 100% sure if this is as good of a truck as I thought. Many people have said they have had problems with the engine, and a lot of wiring issues. Although this was only the second year GM used the duramax engine they should have overcame the big problems. Though they might night have the best engines, the 2002 did have the option of an Allison transmission, which is a very durable transmission, in fact so durable they are used by the military in the M1A1 Abrahams tanks. The 2002 duramax diesel comes in either the two wheel drive or the four wheel drive version. The four wheel drive obviously cost a little more but it’s well worth the extra money. This beast of a truck puts out close to 300 whp(Wheel Horsepower), and about 500-600 ft lbs of torque. Also the truck comes in option with the regular cab, extended or crew cab. Along with the different cab sizes comes with two different sized beds, either a six, or eight foot bed. Considering it’s a diesel, a turbo diesel at the full sized duramax does a pretty good job on mpgs. A lot can be done to customize your duramax to fit your needs not only straight out of the factory, but also with aftermarket parts. Many duramax owners purchase chips, it’s a computer chip that plugs into your trucks computer. This “chip” unlocks certain parts of the computer allowing you to add speed, add torque, or reduce these to get the best of power and mpgs out of your truck. Also with the name of Chevy, or GMC in front of that powerful duramax motor, you know you will get you money’s worth. The duramax line of trucks is a very high quality luxury truck, inside and out. So get out to your local GM dealer and take a test drive. For any other opinions or reveiws i will have a link below for your veiwing. If you have any other questions leave a comment below.
